Dear Mom,

Just to let you know that I am well and am spending the evening here with Rose + Harry.

I told you over the phone last Sunday that I would try to get home for this coming Sunday, well we are moving out in 1 week and there is some doubt as to my being able to get away. However, if there is any chance at all you can be sure that you will see me.

I am here in N.Y. for the evening because I had a ride in and figured that I could spend an evening with the folks here.

I spent a nice quiet week end in Red Bank and so am right up to date with my relatives.

Not much else to write so will close with regards to all also my best regards to Annie Love Louie

Same letter as above

Dear Mom + All,

How are you? We are fine here and were pleasantly surprised to have Louie drop in on us.

I’m very busy doing nothing but its nice to be home.

I don’t know about coming home as there is the epidemic of infantile paralysis and to tell you the truth – I’m a little leery about going thru New Haven or even near it. I’ll see – if I don’t come now maybe I’ll come for Rosh Hashanah as that’s a long week-end and by then it will be cleared up. You can’t blame me, can you? I had planned to come on the Aug 29th week so I’ll see.

Louie looks fine and dandy – I hope he’ll be able to go home over the week end.

There’s no more news – How’s Rosie and Philip? Give them a kiss for me. Love to you all. Is Milly coming over Labor Day?

Best Love Rose

These are all the letters I have for August of '43. It could be that they didn't write as much because they saw each other more often or that the others written that month were simply not saved.
