Dear Mom,

Just a few lines to let you know that I am well and happy to learn that all of you at home are the same.

I have been very busy and expect to be busier from now on. We are getting ourselves built up and being supply sgt is the worst headache any body could have at this time.

I am enclosing a few shots taken about 10 days back. Also a money order for $100. Do with it as you wish.

Please don’t address my mail as Sgt as I am not yet entitled to it.

Not much else to say Regards to all the family
Take care of yourself Love Louie

Dear Mom,

Just a few lines to let you know I am well and still busy.

I am enclosing an other money order for $100. I will use this to have some fun with when I get home.

The rumours are that we are going back as a scout and then to the Pacific. I have 75 points with possible 15 more so may get a break and get left.

Not much else to say Regards to all Take care of yourself Love Louie

Dear Mom,

Just a few lines to let you know that I am well and that everything is O.K.

I expect to be home in about three weeks. I have been made staff sergeant and so am finally getting paid for the job I have been doing for the last 7 weeks.

The division is going to do training back home and then go to the Pacific. Maybe I might be lucky enough to get out of the outfit by the time it ships to the Pacific.

This is probably the last letter from here so don’t worry. Regards to all the gang. Take care of yourself Love Louie

Dear Mom,

This is the last letter from Europe that I am writing. I know that I could have written more than I did but I know you realized at the time that I was very much occupied.

I hope that this is the last one that I have to write from any other place but home. Please God.

So with good luck I should get home in about 3 weeks or about the 7th of July.

Until then my best regards to the gang I am anxiously waiting to see them all. Take care of yourself. Love Louie

Dear Folks,

Just a few lines to let you know that I am still here and if everything goes on, as it looks right now I most likely will be home some time Saturday.

So I guess we’ll be here for about another week.

Not much else to write so will close hoping to see all of you Saturday Louie

Dearest Lou,

Just a line to let you know that everything is fine here. Dinn went back Wed and Ellie came home Wed night so I wasn’t alone at all this trip. Not that I mind I kind of look forward to being alone as I can do a lot of odd jobs that I can’t do when anyone is around because they keep watching me. Dinnie drives the car so be brought me dinner and took some back and (?) at night and drove me home so a good time was had by all. Business has been good all around you see more men on the st. also in the stores, last night I listened on the radio and it announced that the 4th Divis. Is going home the 1st of July from Le Loire. I was so excited I almost busted I was all alone in the house Sam was cutting the grass and I out like a nut to tell him. Millie is visiting Rose she is coming home Sat. Today they went to Red Bank and Dinnie drove them in from Jamaica not much else write last night I played Mah-jong and won 1.02 how is that for winning it’s the 1st time in a dogs age.
All my love and don’t forget to bring something from the old country I am lovingly yours Mother
P.S. I am thankful that you will be bringing yourself whole that’s more important.

June 8, 1945 letter:
He obviously never went to the Pacific but I wonder how many did get sent there after serving in Europe?

It's nice to have a letter in here from my Great-Grandmother.

This last batch of letters is great - you can feel the anticipation of being home and the dread of it being not quite over.

It must have been very exciting to be coming home after all that time in harms way. the thought of going to the Pacific must have been unsettling at best, Phil
